LIMBANG: Umno vice-president Mahdzir Khalid is confident that Gabungan Parti Sarawak will achieve a major victory at the coming general election based on its landslide victory at the state elections in December.
GPS won 76 of the 82 seats in the state assembly.
Mahdzir said a big victory for GPS at the parliamentary general election would contribute to political stability.
“The federal government established must be a stable one. We don’t want to have three prime ministers in four years,” said Mahdzir.
He said political stability was needed to ensure that development can continue to be implemented throughout the country, especially for rural communities.
A GPS leader, Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, said the coalition needed a big victory to ensure that Sarawak has a strong voice in Parliament in its struggle to regain its rights and privileges as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963. - FMT
