PAS has mobilised its machinery nationwide to face the 15th general election (GE15), which is expected to be called soon.
According to PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, the party has also urged all its leaders and members to observe and maintain party discipline and abide by decisions taken by the party’s Syura Ulama council and central committee.
"No press statements can be made, except with the approval of the party president, which can dampen the party's plan and struggles to face GE15.
"The party, at all levels, must concentrate on works for the election, as had been planned, especially according to the directives of the central committee," Takiyuddin (above) said in a statement today.
"PAS is confident that through its Islamic-based struggle, the party will continue to devote its service to the people and the country, together with its political allies with the same cause, after GE15," he added.
His statement comes after Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan's announcement last night that the party's supreme council has decided that Parliament should be dissolved soon to pave way for the 15th general election to be held this year.
As such, Ahmad said, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob will be proposing the date for Parliament’s dissolution to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in line with Article 40(1) of the Federal Constitution. - Mkini
