KUALA LUMPUR: The Sarawak government will consider giving subsidies to Sarawakians to return and vote in the coming general election, said Sarawak premier Abang Johari Openg.
He said the matter would be discussed in detail with other leaders before arriving at a decision.
The premier was asked about this at a town hall session today with Sarawakians studying in Peninsular Malaysia.
Abang Johari said an engagement session between the student leadership and the state government will be held to find solutions to problems faced by students such as expensive house rent, among other things.
He said discussions would also be held with works minister Fadillah Yusof to find a building in Kuala Lumpur with reasonable rent for Sarawakians.
Today’s event was part of the Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak town hall programme for more than 6,000 Sarawakians located in Peninsular Malaysia. - FMT
