Ex-MP files report over Hadi’s ‘communist’ attacks against DAP

KUALA LUMPUR: A DAP lawmaker has lodged a police report urging the authorities to act against PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang for calling DAP a “communist” party.

In a series of tweets last month, Hadi said DAP should be opposed as it was “pro-communist”, going on to claim that communists “terrorise more than the Christian and Jewish colonisers”.

Hadi also uploaded three images and descriptions to link DAP to communists.

Former Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng filed the report at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters urging the cops to investigate Hadi under Sections 499, 504, 555(b) and 505(c) of the Penal Code as well as the 1948 Sedition Act.

Lim said this was the fourth similar accusation Hadi had made against DAP since Parliament was dissolved on Oct 10.

“These are all very serious allegations which DAP could be prosecuted for, yet he (Hadi) doesn’t dare to make a police report against us,” said Lim when met outside the Dang Wangi district police headquarters.

Lim also claimed no legal action had ever been taken against Hadi despite several police reports filed on his controversial remarks in the past.

“It’s as if Hadi is ‘untouchable’ or ‘above the law’,” he said.

Also present at the press conference were Kepong Amanah deputy chief Zainal Abidin Rahmat and Kepong Muda deputy chief Momen Abdul Aziz.

Zainal urged Hadi and the rest of PAS to refrain from making statements that could sow racial discord, especially during the current general election campaign season.

“Pakatan Harapan has been consistent in trying to reconcile the relationship between all races in Malaysia, and we don’t want our efforts to go to waste because of such racist statements,” he said.

Meanwhile, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang reportedly refused to apologise and told DAP he will see them in court.

According to New Straits Times, Hadi was adamant that DAP was “pro-communist” and said there was no reason for him to withdraw his statement. - FMT
