Muhyiddin presents PN's anti-corruption pledge ahead of polls

Perikatan Nasional (PN) has adopted an anti-corruption approach for the 15th general election (GE15), its chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin has said.

"My fight against corruption has been proven through my history. I was removed from my position as the deputy prime minister because I voiced out against those who abused their power for their own gain.

"It is my dream to see Malaysia being led by leaders who are free from corruption, misappropriation and abuse of power," the former prime minister said in a statement today.

Muhyiddin (above) was sacked from Umno in 2015 by the then-party president Najib Abdul Razak for being vocal against the 1MDB scandal.

Besides Muhyiddin, who was then party deputy president, Mukhriz Mahathir also received the boot while the then vice-president Mohd Shafie Apdal, was suspended.

Integrity pledge

The anti-corruption pledge has been noted in the coalition's “Candidates Integrity Pledge”, he added.

Among the pledges contained in the document are should they (PN leaders) win the election and get elected as MPs or assemblypersons, they would abide by all anti-corruption measures while carrying out their respective duties.

The second point said that the PN leaders will reject all forms of corruption, misappropriation and abuse of power, and fully cooperate with the MACC to fight graft.

"We also swear to not get involved in any form of corruption, misappropriation, and abuse of power, directly or indirectly, and always preserve our personal integrity, as well as that of our respective parties, and PN's.

"We will also immediately report to the MACC any form of corruption, misappropriation, and abuse of power that comes to our knowledge, or that involves people under our supervision," read the pledge.

“With the pledge, it is hoped that PN can offer a clean, stable and concerned government,” Muhyiddin stated. - Mkini
