KAMPAR: Perak DAP chairman, Nga Kor Ming has claimed Warisan is only aiming to split votes by fielding candidates in seats held by Pakatan Harapan in the state.
“It is clear their intention is to split votes (but) who does it help?” he said at a press conference, adding voters could see what Warisan was trying to do.
Sabah-based Warisan is contesting four parliamentary and eight state seats in Perak. Most of these seats were won by PH in the last election.
Warisan will be contesting the Kampar, Tapah, Gopeng and Lumut parliamentary seats. It is also contesting the Chenderiang, Ayer Kuning, Pasir Panjang, Pangkor, Malim Nawar, Sungai Rapat, Teja, and Simpang Pulai state seats.
Nga claimed Warisan’s intentions were “clear” as it was only fielding 26 candidates for state assembly seats where state polls were being held.
He said this made it impossible for Warisan to form any state government.
“Warisan cannot even defend Sabah. If it really wants to form state governments, how can it only contest 26 seats? What’s weirder is that all the seats it is targeting are those won by PH.”
Nga said if PH gained power in Perak, the first thing it will do is pass an anti-hopping law in the state assembly. He added he was confident that DAP’s candidates will remain loyal and not switch sides. - FMT
