Covid-19 (Jan 8): 405 new cases, 1 death

 

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 405 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active cases currently stood at 11,394, down 17.5 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Selangor (128)
Kuala Lumpur (50)
Penang (32)
Sarawak (32)
Malacca (25)
Negeri Sembilan (21)
Johor (20)
Kedah (20)
Perak (19)
Pahang (16)
Sabah (14)
Terengganu (9)
Putrajaya (9)
Kelantan (5)
Perlis (3)
Labuan (2)

There was one new Covid-19 death reported in Selangor.

Over the past week, an average of 2.6 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 4.2, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the downtrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,875 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There are 599 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 32 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (57) followed by Sabah (51) and Kuala Lumpur (17). - Mkini
