Mahani Idris, the wife of former finance minister and businessperson Daim Zainuddin, passed away last night.
According to a report by Astro Awani, the reason for her passing could not be determined.
“With a heavy heart, it is to be informed to everyone that Mami (Mahani) has returned in peace to the Almighty,” the news portal quoted a source close to the family of the deceased.
It was understood that the deceased would undergo (the Islamic funeral rite of) washing at Kampung Baru Mosque, Kuala Lumpur, at 10am today.
Prayers would also be performed for the deceased at Surau Hidayat, Seri Kembangan, before being laid to rest at Tanah Perkuburan Islam Bukit Kiara.
The deceased left behind five children.
Her husband was finance minister for two stints under the administration of Dr Mahathir Mohamad, firstly from 1984 to 1991, and secondly from 1999 to 2001. - Mkini
