PKR veterans group Otai Reformis has described the sacking of former vice-president Tian Chua from the party as fair.
According to the movement's pro-tem chairperson Mustapha Mansor Amer Mohd Isa, Tian Chua's removal was based on the party constitution.
"It underwent the due process. If there was any party member who goes against the constitution, they can be 'punished' by the party," he told Malaysiakini.
Mustapha was commenting on the sacking of Tian Chua (above) from PKR recently due to his contesting the Batu parliamentary seat as an independent candidate in GE15.
Following that, Tian Chua slammed the ”harsh enforcement” of rules, which he said went against the spirit of reconciliation and inclusivity of the current government.
Elaborating, Mustapha said Tian Chua has all the rights to appeal against his sacking.
He said it was a "loss" for leaders to neglect their Reformasi struggles for the sake of power and position.
"On behalf of Otai Reformis, I urge all Reformasi activists, veterans or newbies, to gauge whether they are in the party to serve the people and the country."
Tian Chua held the Batu seat for two terms from 2008 until 2018.
After being disqualified as a candidate during the 2018 election, he endorsed P Prabakaran, then an independent candidate, who eventually won and joined PKR later.
During the PKR leadership election last year, Prabakaran beat Tian Chua for the Batu PKR division chief post and was nominated by the party to defend Batu in GE15.
