PETALING JAYA: Terengganu PAS is ready to give up some of its state seats to Bersatu in the upcoming state elections, says menteri besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.
However, Samsuri, who is also the Islamic party’s vice-president, said discussions with Bersatu’s leadership were still unofficial at this stage.
“There were no difficulties in the seat allocation discussions between the leaderships of PAS and Perikatan Nasional (PN) for the recent general election (GE15).
“We were able to resolve issues arising, even though Bersatu was only given one parliamentary seat to contest (in GE15),” he said.
In GE15, Bersatu’s sole candidate for a parliamentary seat in Terengganu was state deputy chief Rosol Wahid, who succeeded in defending the seat under the PAS banner.
Eight parliamentary seats were up for grabs in Terengganu during GE15.
Samsuri said they had yet to finalise the number of state seats that would be allotted to Bersatu to contest.
He added that seat allocation discussions with Gerakan, another PN component party, were also ongoing. - FMT
