Umno has not decided the action to be taken against the Sabah Umno assemblypersons who joined the cabinet of state Chief Minister Hajiji Noor.
According to Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan, the matter will be discussed after the Umno annual general meeting (PAU 2022), which starts today and concludes on Saturday.
"Still no decision yet," Ahmad (above) briefly told a press conference after officiating the media space for PAU 2022 in Kuala Lumpur today.
"I wish them all the best in their roles. We hope that everything will return to normal soon; the matter (Sabah crisis) we will comment on later," Ahmad added, referring to the Umno representatives who were appointed to the Sabah state cabinet in a reshuffle earlier today.
This morning, Tanjung Keramat assemblyperson Shahelmy Yahya, who is one of the five assemblypersons who sided with Hajiji during the crisis, was promoted to deputy chief minister III.
Shahelmy replaced Lamag assemblyperson and Sabah BN chairperson Bung Moktar Raden as the works minister.
Aside from Bung Moktar, Hajiji also dropped two more cabinet members, Yakub Khan (BN-Karambunai) and Jafry Ariffin (BN-Sukau).
Commenting on the matter, Bung Moktar said Sabah Umno does not recognise the new line-up, and insisted that Hajiji had "bought over" five Umno representatives to support his government.
He further called for MACC and other relevant agencies to probe the alleged political bribery.
The cabinet reshuffle was carried out only days after Sabah Umno withdrew its support for Hajiji.
The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah leader, however, managed to keep his position after five Umno state assemblypersons went against the party decision and gave their support to Hajiji, with the help of seven Harapan assemblypersons who tilted towards the chief minister.
Meanwhile, Ahmad said that Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will explain the matter concerning the party's collaboration with Pakatan Harapan in the federal government in a closed-door meeting with over 3,000 Umno delegates from around the country at the PAU 2022 later this evening. - Mkini
