SHAH ALAM: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has expressed concern over the condition of the country’s security assets, especially old vessels belonging to the Royal Malaysian Navy that need to be replaced.

This was expressed by the sultan, who is the navy’s captain-in-chief, during a meeting with navy commander Reza Sany last Thursday.

In a Facebook post by the Selangor Royal Office, Sultan Sharafuddin said the aged assets needed to be replaced to ensure the country’s waters were always protected and that the navy was always in a state of readiness.

The sultan had granted an audience to Reza, who is retiring, at Istana Bukit Kayangan in Shah Alam.

Reza, who was appointed the navy chief on Nov 30, 2018, will hand over his duties to deputy commander Abdul Rahman Ayob on Jan 23. - FMT
