Harimau Malaya’s hopes of advancing to the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Cup 2022 finals have been turned into disappointment after a thrashing by their Thai counterparts.
Thailand defeated Malaysia 3-0 during the second leg of the semi-finals at Thammasat Stadium in Pathum Thani tonight, bringing the aggregate score to 3-1.
Thailand will face Vietnam in the finals slated to be held on Jan 13 and Jan 16.
Thailand's prolific striker Teerasil Dangda scored the first goal in the 19th minute before winger Bordin Phala and substitute striker Adisak Kraison sealed the victory for Thailand in the 55th and 71st minute respectively.
Tonight's victory ended Thailand's winless record against Malaysia after six matches since 2018, thus bringing the best motivation to face the first leg of the finals against the two-time champions, Vietnam.
