Malaysians have braved many challenges and persevered to finally find hope, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said in his Chinese New Year message.
The journey is told through the lens of a fluffy white rabbit called Miki, in an official video uploaded by the Prime Minister's Department yesterday.
In the video, the rabbit can be seen hopping through the jungle, after accidentally straying away from its colony.
Miki then roams into a nearby settlement, foraging for food amongst farm chickens in the pouring rain.
The narrator then likens Miki's journey to Malaysians.
"Will there be surrender after all the trials and tribulations?
"Where there is hope, there will be light (at the end of the tunnel). Let us all rise with unity."
The narration then switches to Anwar, who is seen walking in the vicinity of the Prime Minister's Department in Putrajaya.
"As an independent, mature country, we should empower all races in our beloved nation.
"Let us all celebrate Chinese New Year. Xin Nian Kuai Le," said the premier, while holding Miki in his hands.
The Chinese community will usher in the Chinese New Year on Jan 22 and 23.
And this year, according to the Chinese zodiac, is the Year of the Rabbit. - Mkini
