Isham Jalil mocks Khairy’s claim that Zahid could be PM

FORMER UMNO Supreme Council member Isham Jalil sarcastically wished former Minister Khairy Jamaluddin good luck for what he sees as the latter’s strategy to become Prime Minister.

In a Facebook post today, Isham inquired about what happened to Khairy, whom he sees as precipitous lately.

According to him, Khairy was kowtowing to UMNO president and Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“What happened, KJ? I thought you wanna be PM. So Zahid PM, you TPM, and then you PM? Wow, what a strategy,” said Isham.

“Have you thought it through though? You’ve been precipitous lately. I suppose Zahid/UMDAP need you now and you need them, and time is running out for both of you,” he continued, adding that it could be Khairy’s triumph or funeral.

He even wished him all the best and good luck. Last week, former UMNO Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin said in the Keluar Sekejap podcast that Ahmad Zahid has a strong chance of becoming Prime Minister after the next general election.

Khairy highlighted the current political landscape, where many dominant parties are grappling with internal conflicts, a contrast with UMNO’s relative stability.

He further argued that this stability strengthens public perception that Ahmad Zahid is capable of managing internal differences effectively.

Khairy also pointed out that Zahid had previously handled disagreements raised by UMNO Youth Chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh without triggering divisions within the party.

“He managed those differences in UMNO very well. And compared to other political parties, UMNO seems to have no internal problems. Even PAS is experiencing some tension between the ulama and non-ulama factions, but UMNO looks stable,” Khairy said. —Focus Malaysia
