The government spokesman says the Cabinet has received an initial report but improvements are needed before presenting it to the national economic action council.

Fahmi, who is also the communications minister, said the Cabinet had received an initial report on the matter, but further improvements are needed before it is presented to the national economic action council (NEAC).
“Priority will be given to non-critical sectors and the prime minister has requested that the report be presented in a more comprehensive manner at the next NEAC meeting,” he told a press conference after a Cabinet meeting today.
Asked whether the policy would extend to the private sector, Fahmi said companies were free to adopt similar arrangements.
“As we are aware, many private companies have been practising WFH since the pandemic.
The government previously said it would study the possibility of WFH measures after Thailand adopted similar measures to reduce energy consumption amid the Middle East conflict.
However, the Malaysian Employers Federation noted that such arrangements might not be suitable across all sectors. - FMT
