Female soldier jailed 7 years for sexually abusing son

 The 44-year-old pleads guilty to the offence involving her eight-year-old child in 2024.

PETALING JAYA:

 A female military personnel was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Ayer Keroh sessions court today after pleading guilty to sexually abusing her eight-year-old son.

According to a Harian Metro report, judge Raja Noor Adilla Raja Mahyaldi handed down the sentence after the 44-year-old accused pleaded guilty to the charge.

The offence took place at a house in Taman Peruna, Sungai Udang, Melaka Tengah district, at about 10.30pm, in late December 2024.

She was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, read together with Section 16(1) of the same Act.

Deputy public prosecutor Nor Asnini Kamarudin appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was unrepresented.

In mitigation, the accused, who is a single mother, pleaded for a lighter sentence, saying she needed to support her three children after completing her prison term.

The court ordered the seven-year jail sentence to take effect from the date of the accused’s arrest on March 3, 2024. - FMT
