Isham Jalil to file police reports against MCMC for “abuse of power, waste of public resources”

UMNO renegade-turned-staunch Madani critic Isham Jalil will lodge a police report against the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the parties or individuals who accused him of defaming the Madani government over the “329K barrels diesel export controversy” to the Philippines.

The former UMNO supreme council member who had come under heavy attack by Madani backers and keyboard warriors wanted action over abuse of power and waste of public resources or funds “when they started an investigation against me and seized my personal property or mobile phone on matters that had no solid basis”.

This refers to Isham’s posting on April 11 which MCMC had ordered Facebook to block on April 12. The content read as follows:

“This just came out two hours ago. The Philippine news said its Department of Energy has confirmed that it had received 329,000 barrels (52 million litres) of diesel from Malaysia. Netizens can try checking this piece of news. Thank you.”

This report to be filed by Isham will include a report for the police and MCMC to investigate the Anwar Ibrahim Fans FB group which had spread similar news three days prior to the posting by Isham, notably on April 8 yet no action has been taken by the authorities to date.

The post by Anwar Ibrahim Fans FB group read:

“Malaysia continues to export diesel to abroad. Yesterday 34,000 tonnes of diesel from Malaysia arrived in Bangladesh. Next Friday 300,000 barrels (40,900 tonnes) of Malaysian diesel will arrive in the Philippines. Refineries in Malaysia produce 17 million tonnes of diesel. Malaysia is a net exporter of diesel.”

“Other legal actions such as civil suits will follow later,” added the former special officer to incarcerated former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Editor’s Note: Ironically, Isham had on Monday (April 13) said the police have reached out to him that someone filed a report with MCMC regarding the diesel export issue.

“They wanted to give me a notice to meet them. No problem,” he penned in a FB post. “I told them to state specifically: (i) which part of my statements is illegal; (ii) who filed the report.

“If the government’s actions are not based on the right foundation, I can also take legal action against the government and the reporter.

“I’ve been to and from court many times, threatened with prison, called by the police and had my phone confiscated. I remember and have never forgotten all my slanderers.

“I believe that one day the ‘kifarah’ (atonement/divine retribution) will come. We need to continue to be steadfast in our struggle.”
