P8P, P6P and P2P fetched bids of more than half-million each, while the most sought-after were P1177P, P313P, P22P, P411P and P888P.

Total bids for the series amounted to more than RM21.6 million, transport minister Loke Siew Fook said. The five-day bidding period ended at 10pm yesterday, Bernama reported.
The highest bid at RM1.1 million was for P1P, followed by P9P (RM1,000,777), P8P (RM613,000), P6P (RM600,777) and P2P (RM512,000).
Loke said the five most heavily-bid numbers were P1177P with 26 bidders, P313P and P22P with 24 bidders each, while P411P and P888P each attracted 22 bidders.
A total of 19,370 bidders took part and 5,973 registration numbers were successfully awarded, Loke said after JPJ’s 80th anniversary celebrations at the Penang state stadium in Batu Kawan today.
Loke said the remaining 4,026 numbers will be offered to the public at a minimum price after the bidding period ends.
JPJ director-general Aedy Fadly Ramli said the P_P series symbolised the department’s eight decades in the development of the national transport system, and its link to Penang as the host location for this year’s anniversary celebrations. - FMT
