DAP Youth explained the wing's decision to take part in the “Tangkap Azam Baki” rally today, stating that a government's strength lies not only in its administrative power but also in its willingness to listen to the people and act transparently.
In a statement on Facebook, the wing’s assistant publicity secretary Syaheera Ghafar said that despite DAP being part of the federal government, the wing's participation comes as it is guided by its stance on accountability, transparency and engagement with public concerns.
"In this regard, DAP Youth's participation in the rally is not a contradiction, but rather a manifestation of its shared responsibility with the people to ensure that stability and confidence in government institutions are maintained.
"The current administration and relevant agencies should no longer delay efforts to ensure that the country is truly free from any allegations of abuse of power and corruption.
"The people have the right to know the truth, and only through transparent investigations and firm action can confidence in the government be restored," Syaheera added.

In a rare political twist, both the DAP Youth and MCA Youth wings - which are more often at loggerheads than in agreement - found common ground over one issue: today's rally calling for the removal of MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki.
On April 23, both wings expressed support for the rally and confirmed their participation.
The same day, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar announced that he would personally decide on the next MACC chief commissioner, signalling that Azam’s tenure - already extended three times by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim - would not be renewed when it expires on May 12.
The king also urged all parties to refrain from politicising the matter.
This morning, Sultan Ibrahim consented to appoint former judge Abdul Halim Aman as the new MACC chief commissioner, effective May 13.

Despite this announcement, Muda president Amira Aisya Abdul Aziz said the rally against Azam will proceed as planned.
The Puteri Wangsa assemblyperson asserted that the protest is not about leadership changes, but a “festering” system that needs to be fixed. - Mkini
