KUALA LUMPUR: Businessman Datuk Seri Farhash Wafa Salvador has denied allegations claiming that he stole and transferred billions of ringgit in illicit funds overseas, including to Turkiye and Africa.
He referred to several online news reports published on Apr 22, Apr 23 and May 5, including articles by MalaysiaNow, MalaysiaKini and Harakah Daily, which cited an alleged video recording involving two people identified as Sofia Rini and Albert Tei.
Farhash said the reports contained serious allegations against him, including claims that he laundered and moved illicit funds abroad.
"I categorically and without any doubt deny all these allegations. They are untrue, baseless and defamatory, clearly intended to damage my reputation and integrity, as well as affect my personal life and business affairs.
"I am only a businessman and currently not involved in politics. I do not know why I have been dragged into this matter, other than that these individuals may have ulterior motives for political gain," he said in a statement.
Farhash also clarified that he is not a Turkiye citizen, as reported, and has never been involved in any money laundering or theft of funds as alleged, nor does he hold any bank accounts in Turkiye.
He said the video had been spread with malicious intent by certain parties and could potentially breach the law.
He said a police report has been lodged, and the matter has been referred to the authorities for investigation under relevant legal provisions, including Section 499 of the Penal Code.
He also instructed his lawyers to take legal action against those spreading the defamatory claims to protect his name and interests.
He urged the public not to circulate or accept unverified information, and to allow the authorities to carry out a fair and transparent investigation. - NST
