Small fire breaks out at Sasana Kijang

PETALING JAYA:

A small fire broke out this morning on the third floor of Sasana Kijang, the central bank’s research centre in Kuala Lumpur.

The Kuala Lumpur fire and rescue department said they were informed of the fire at the uninterruptible power supply back-up battery room at 7.32am.

Two teams were deployed to the scene and the fire was put out within minutes.

“We are still investigating the cause of the fire,” the department’s operations commander S Thirugaiyah Saminathan said in a statement.

Bank Negara governor Rasheed Ghaffour and chief statistician Uzir Mahidin are scheduled to hold a press conference at the venue later today. - FMT
