Hamizan Bahtiar, head of Negeri Sembilan PKR Youth, says the state Umno leader's suggestion amounts to 'a clear attempt to form a backdoor government'.

The wing’s chief, Hamizan Bahtiar, said such a call was not only irresponsible, but was a clear attempt to form a backdoor government, Sinar Harian reported.
Hamizan said Jalaluddin’s call reeked of political opportunism and had disrespected the unity government in the state, despite the Pertang assemblyman claiming it was a legal matter.
“His actions underscore Negeri Sembilan Umno’s defiance of the call by the Yang Dipertuan Besar, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, for Aminuddin Harun to continue as menteri besar. Aminuddin is head of Negeri Sembilan PKR and Pakatan Harapan.
Hamizan said the state Umno’s call also goes against the stance of the party’s national leadership which had previously said the party will continue to back the unity government in Negeri Sembilan.
On Thursday, Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the party will continue to back the unity government in Negeri Sembilan to ensure political stability despite the state Umno’s decision.
Hamizan said Jalaluddin’s remarks also proved that Negeri Sembilan Umno was plagued by an integrity crisis and a lack of cohesion in the leadership. It also proved that both Umno and Perikatan Nasional were intending to seize power undemocratically, which could trigger political instability in the state.
After the 14 Barisan Nasional-Umno assemblymen announced their loss of confidence in Aminuddin, the state PN offered Umno the support of their five assemblymen, sufficient for a simple majority in the 36-member state assembly.
Jalaluddin, previously a senior executive councillor, said the decision by the assemblymen was linked to the ongoing crisis involving four chieftains seeking to depose the state ruler. He has said that a letter had been sent to the state assembly speaker calling for a special sitting to resolve the political crisis.
Last night, former Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin said tabling a confidence vote would be an acceptable way to resolve the crisis. - FMT
