S Valan now faces a total of 11 charges.

This brings the total number of charges against S Valan to 11, Berita Harian reported.
Valan, 31, pleaded not guilty to the two new charges before Kuala Lumpur sessions court judge Suhaila Haron.
He is accused of committing the offences between 11pm on Jan 2, 2023 and 2am the following day, and at 2pm on Nov 22, 2023, in a bedroom of a condominium unit in Segambut.
The charges, framed under Sections 377B and 377C of the Penal Code, carry penalties of up to 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping, and between five and 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping, respectively, upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Subri Hashim did not offer bail as the offences are non-bailable.
However, defence lawyer Nur Amalia Daud applied for a reasonable bail amount, arguing that her client is innocent until proven guilty.
“His mother, a housewife, is present in court and is willing to stand as surety. The accused is married, has a three-year-old child, and lives with his family in Sentul. He poses no flight risk.
“He also has no access to the victim or the welfare home. If there are concerns about witness interference, the court can impose additional conditions,” she said.
She said the Ampang and Selayang sessions courts had previously granted bail, and impounded Valan’s passport.
After hearing submissions, Suhaila set bail at RM18,000 with one surety for both charges and fixed June 8 for mention.
The court also ordered the accused not to interfere with prosecution witnesses and to report to a police station monthly until the case is concluded.
Lawyers Kirthen Subramaniam and Nishanthi Loganathan appeared as observers for the victim’s family and Pertubuhan Kebangkitan Tiga Tangan Selangor, which alleged abuse spanning nearly a decade at the unlicensed home.
Last month, Valan was slapped with four charges of abusing minors, and four charges of sexual assault against children and carnal intercourse against the order of nature.
He also pleaded not guilty to operating an unregistered daycare centre at Taman Permata Biru in Batu Caves.
Two former residents, now aged 18, had lodged police reports on the alleged abuse.
Last month, a caretaker at the home, Retna Velu, 25, pleaded guilty to 15 charges of sexual assault and unnatural sex involving five boys, including an eight-year-old.
The Ampang sessions court is set to sentence Retna on May 21. - FMT
