The Indera Mahkota MP says Hamzah Zainudin's initiative aligns with his vision for a more centrist, inclusive and principle-based Malaysian democracy.

In a statement today, Saifuddin said he supported Hamzah because they shared similar principles, including clean politics, multiracial centrism, and a commitment to nation-building rather than political survival.

“I see that Hamzah has ideas compatible with mine. For him, politics is not about political survival but about nation-building, based on the principle of ‘amar makruf nahi mungkar’ (upholding what is right and opposing what is wrong),” he said.
The former minister said Hamzah would soon announce a new political party to formalise the “new national consensus” framework.
He said the party would also reflect Malaysia’s constitutional identity, including the Federal Constitution, the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and Rukun Negara, and would join a coalition of parties to strengthen its electoral position.
Saifuddin added that Hamzah would also serve as a bridge between compatible political parties to build broader cooperation beyond the coalition the new party joins.
“Hamzah has the experience and potential to play a highly significant role in shaping a stronger, more inclusive and stable future for Malaysian politics,” he said.
Hamzah, who was sacked from Bersatu on Feb 13 following a leadership crisis involving the party president, Muhyiddin Yassin, launched the Reset movement the following day.
The former Bersatu deputy president is expected to launch a new party in mid-June, with reports suggesting it could be unveiled at a “Reset Convention” ahead of the Dewan Rakyat sitting on June 22.
There have also been reports linking him to Parti Keluarga Malaysia and Parti Cinta Malaysia, though he has denied claims that he would take over PCM. - FMT
