Party president Dr Sim Kui Hian says he will submit the nomination to Gabungan Parti Sarawak chairman Abang Johari Openg.

Sim said he will submit the nomination to Gabungan Parti Sarawak chairman Abang Johari Openg, the Borneo Post reported.
He described Lau, the Bawang Assan SUPP youth chief, as an articulate and hardworking leader who had shown a strong commitment to serving the community and contributing to the constituency’s development.
Sim said Lau had long advocated the construction of a bridge linking Sibu to the western side of Bawang Assan, adding that the proposal has received the premier’s support.
Two years ago, Sim’s endorsement of Lau, a local councillor, highlighted a growing rift between SUPP and the Progressive Democratic Party, another GPS component party.
The seat is currently represented by Wong Soon Koh, a seven-term assemblyman, who joined PDP in 2024, after Parti Sarawak Bersatu was dissolved.
