BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said his coalition as well as Pakatan Harapan should focus on championing their respective candidates instead of indulging in personal attacks in the Johor election.
“The same approach will apply in Negeri Sembilan, and we will avoid personal or below-the-belt attacks.
“If anyone from either side slips up, we should de-escalate the situation. Most importantly, democracy must be upheld and practised in the best possible manner,” Free Malaysia Today quoted him as saying at an event in Kota Tinggi, Johor, today.
He added that both coalitions have agreed to defend federal unity by taking a mature approach towards campaigning amid a changing political landscape that is moving away from disparaging opponents.
PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the party will not be issuing a comprehensive manifesto for the Johor election.
Instead, PAS will focus on the needs of voters in specific areas, Berita Harian quoted him as saying.
“I think what is important is that our role in the state legislature is to be a check and balance to the state government," he told a press conference after a party meeting at Pasir Mas, Kelantan, today.
PAS called for fugitive financier Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, to be brought back to Malaysia to face charges related to the 1MDB scandal, regardless of action taken by other countries.

Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man Tuan Ibrahim stressed that Malaysia need not follow any decision made by the US as it has its own legal system.
ADS“Low must be brought home to stand trial because this country is the party most affected by his actions, which have had a major impact on the economy,” he told reporters after a party meeting at Pasir Mas, Kelantan, today.
PSM questioned why Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad announced a new hospital in Bandar Enstek, Negeri Sembilan, ahead of the state election there.
In a statement today, state PSM secretary Tinagaran Subramaniam said the government should refrain from making such announcements before elections in the spirit of maintaining fair democratic processes.

Dzulkefly Ahmad “If this project was indeed planned in advance, the government needs to explain why the announcement was made at a time when the political atmosphere is at its peak.
“We also urge the government to publicly disclose all documents related to this project, including the approval status, construction costs, funding sources, implementation timeline, and target completion date,” he said.
Seputeh MP Teresa Kok has expressed concerns over the Education Ministry's decision to lease the former SK Danau Perdana land site in Taman Desa to a private entity.
In her letter to Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek yesterday, Kok said that residents only became aware of the lease after a notice was placed at the site, indicating it has been rented out from Feb 1 to Jan 31, 2029.
She highlighted that the former school site had been abandoned for around 21 years and had become associated with various problems. A fire incident at the site last month further underscored long-standing concerns.

Teresa Kok Kok said that she and the SMJK Confucian administration had applied since June 2024 to relocate the school to the site, and this proposal was supported by 26 residents’ associations and Parent-Teachers’ Associations within a 5km radius of Taman Desa.
However, she said that in February 2025, then-chief secretary to the ministry, Ruji Ubi, rejected the application, citing that the land was needed to be retained for the ministry’s future development plans. - Mkini
