The world No 18 clinched the decisive point after battling past Pakistan’s Noor Zaman 11-8, 6-11, 7-11, 11-4, 11-5.
Earlier, Ameeshenraj Chandaran put Malaysia ahead by beating Nasir Iqbal 8-11, 11-3, 11-6, 11-4.
The victory marked Malaysia’s fourth squash gold at this year’s Aichi-Nagoya Games, and its third gold medal of the day.
The other two gold medals came in the women’s team squash event and from cyclist Azizulhasni Awang.
The nine golds equalled Malaysia’s best performance in the Asian Games achieved in the 2010 Guangzhou edition.
Another gold is at stake when Malaysia take on India in the men’s hockey final tomorrow. - FMT
