The former Penang Municipal councillor, who is alleged to have molested a 21-year-old woman, was freed after the court rejected his remand extension.
PETALING JAYA: A 50-year-old aide of a DAP state assemblyman, who is alleged to have molested a 21-year-old part-time waitress, was freed on Saturday after the court rejected his remand extension.
The former Penang Municipal Council councillor was arrested on Thursday and had been remanded for two days and the remand order ended today, reported The Star.
The victim, who is working as a part-time waitress at an entertainment outlet on Beach Street, claimed that the 50-year-old man sexually assaulted her at the car park at about 11pm on Thursday.
According to the woman’s police report, which has gone viral, the waitress alleged that the drunk man had taken her to the car park, molested her and asked her to perform oral sex on him.
The woman claimed she had refused his advances but failed to stop him. When she started crying, the man masturbated and ejaculated on her.
Later, the man had apparently offered her RM500 to RM700 to “spend the night” with him. She refused and asked to be let go.
She lodged a police report at the Beach Street police station the following day.
The suspect’s lawyer, Gnasegaran Egamparam, said his client had been cooperating with the police.
“We went to the district police headquarters on Thursday at the request of the investigators. All my client wants is a fair investigation,” he said.
The man had been remanded under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault or use of criminal force on a person with intent to outrage modesty. -FMT
