Wan Azizah hopes new logo will beam Harapan up to Putrajaya

Pakatan Harapan president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail sees nothing wrong with netizens likening the coalition's new logo to Star Trek's logo.
In fact, like the popular science-fiction franchise whose tagline is 'to boldly go where no man has gone before', she says there is a similarity with the coalition's goals.
"It is a bit like that (tagline) because no one has ever defeated BN," she told reporters during a Hari Raya open house in Kajang today.
Asked to comment on reactions to the new logo, she explained they actually chose that design to symbolise their high hopes (harapan menggunung).
Netizens have compared the new Harapan logo to many things, with one of the more prevalent comparisons being that of Star Trek's logo.
Some netizens liken it to a cursor, a global positioning system (GPS) pointer and even a Freemason's symbol.
Amanah communications director Khalid Samad said that an interpretation of the Harapan logo he liked was of a navigation cursor.
"So we are going to navigate the country out of the mess that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has created into a more golden era," he said.
Netizens have also noted the colour red in the logo background, with some speculating that this could point to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's (Bersatu) dominance in the coalition.
This is because the most prominent colour in Bersatu's logo is red.
Wan Azizah, however, said that red means many things such as victory and courage.
"We wanted something that could catch people's attention," she said.
Khalid also explained that red was the common colour between all the four parties.

PKR has two red stripes in its logo, DAP has the red rocket and a mix of red and yellow would result in Amanah's orange, he said.
"It's true, this is what was discussed.
"Because we want to find a common colour. The most common colour is red," she said.
On Thursday night, after a four-hour meeting, Harapan finally unveiled their coalition logo and leadership lineup after months of speculation. -Mkini
