ALICIA AMIN is definitely under the glaring spotlight right now, no thanks to a batch of old photos of her in just her birthday suit that have somehow made their way around the Internet recently.
It is also believed that they resurfaced because the 22-year-old model and actress is currently starring in a Malay TV drama series, which has Aliff Aziz and Mira Filzah playing the leading roles.
Naturally, Alicia received flak from Netizens over the photos which were taken last year on a beach in Melbourne, Australia. They were for a campaign for the popular lingerie house, Victoria’s Secret.
Defending her actions, the up-and-coming actress who was also a contestant on the recent Asia’s Next Top Model (AsNTM) Cycle 5 tweeted that she was a liberal and modern person.
She also expressed her pride for the work she had done for that campaign, insisting that her actions weren’t morally wrong.
One of her tweets read: “It’s 2017 and people are scared of their work because it challenges society. Shame on u Malaysia for breaking our artistes.”
Some of her followers on Twitter disagreed with her. A follower commented that instead of looking like a civilised person, Alicia only managed to mimic those from the Stone Age (by taking off her clothes).
Alicia also hit back at those who left nasty comments on her fashion sense, calling them “stereotypical Malays”.
Some Netizens sarcastically pointed out to her that she should not be acting in a drama which appeals mostly to the “stereotypical Malay” TV viewers.
To that, Alicia responded: “And this is the best example of Malay mentality – shoot bogel/fashion pun salah, buat drama Melayu pun salah. U can never win.”
Alicia, whose full name is Raja Alicia Raja Amin, started modelling at the age of 15. She is of Malay-German parentage.
