Latheefa pans Rafizi for 'insinuating' Ambiga's role in Kajang Move

PKR supreme council member Latheefa Koya has criticised Rafizi Ramli for what she claimed was the PKR vice president's insinuation that former Bersih chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan had been involved in the removal of then selangor menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
"The architect of the fatal Kajang Move is now trying push the blame on people like Ambiga, who had opposed it then.
"At that time, Ambiga had openly criticised the Kajang Move and strongly advised against it. Rafizi then pretended to apologise publicly and claimed he would explain to the public.
"Now, the tune is all changed. He claims now... that Ambiga also gave him some documents, to insinuate that Ambiga partook in the removal of Khalid Ibrahim - when in fact he knows very well she was never involved in that, or any other party plans or agenda," she said in a Facebook posting.
Latheefa was referring to Rafizi's explanation yesterday where he denied branding Ambiga as "anti-Harapan", but said he was pointing out that Ambiga had not been supportive of the formation of Harapan without PAS from the onset.
In his lengthy explanation, Rafizi also stated: "Prior to the Kajang Move, I met her (Ambiga) personally at Bangsar Shopping Centre over lunch to listen to her views on the performance of the Selangor menteri besar then.
"At the meeting, she also passed a document that eventually formed one of the key considerations that led to PKR's decision to remove Khalid Ibrahim through the Kajang Move," he added.
The Kajang Move was initially hatched in 2014 for PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim to contest the Kajang state seat in a by-election, which would then allow him to take over as Selangor menteri besar, replacing Khalid.
However, PKR eventually forced to field Anwar's wife Wan Azizah Wan Ismail due to the former's Sodomy II case, which could risk disqualifying him.
Wan Azizah, who won the by-election, was later endorsed by PKR and DAP to take over as Selangor menteri besar. However, PAS, which disagreed with the Kajang Move, refused to do cooperate.
In the ensuing political crisis, two PAS state assemblypersons, Saari Sungib (Hulu Kelang) and Hasnul Baharuddin (Morib) backed PKR president Wan Azizah without PAS' consent, angering PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, who accused PKR of "stealing" its state assemblypersons.
The Selangor sultan eventually chose PKR deputy president Azmin Ali as menteri besar.
Latheefa accused Rafizi of putting together the Kajang Move simply to prevent Azmin from becoming menteri besar.
She added Rafizi claimed to have had the endorsement of then PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat for the removal of Khalid as menteri besar.
"But one thing was for sure - Hadi never agreed.
"What did this boy do then? He immediately revealed that prior to the 13th general election, Hadi never wanted Anwar as prime minister and that in fact Hadi wanted (Umno veteran) Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.
"This so-called revelation was unnecessary; (it) infuriated Hadi. This was the beginning of bad blood between PAS and Rafizi," said Latheefa.
Latheefa said she had also questioned the prudence of Rafizi's Kajang Move due to Anwar's ongoing Sodomy II case.
"I asked him, what if Anwar is convicted (because during that time, Anwar's (case) was still being fixed for case management).

"You know what his answer was? 'Oops, I didn't think of that'. Will he now deny saying that to me?" she said.
Anwar was on March 7, 2014 found guilty of sodomy by the Court of Appeal. The Federal Court upheld Anwar's five-year jail sentence in February 2015.
Anwar claimed the charge against him was politically motivated. He is expected to be released at the earliest in mid 2018. - Mkini
