JOHOR BARU: A senior citizen stepped on the accelerator instead of the brakes and crashed his car into the convenience store of a petrol station in Bandar Baru Uda here.
In the 5.30pm incident Tuesday, the 71-year old driver of a Perodua Kenari was leaving the Petronas station after refuelling in Jalan Padi Ria.
“Initial investigation showed that the man lost control of the vehicle when he was driving out of the petrol station,’’ said Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Taib Ahmad.
He said the car rammed into a motorcyclist who was filling petrol before it crashed through the glass wall of the store. The car only came to a stop after hitting a display shelf.
ACP Mohd Taib said apart from damages at the station and vehicles, nobody was injured in the incident.
The case is being investigated for dangerous and reckless driving
