PETALING JAYA: Four armed suspects fled with RM800,000 after robbing four security guards who had just arrived at a petrol station to refill an ATM with cash.
The robbery occurred at a petrol station in Bukit Antarabangsa, Kuala Lumpur, around 5pm on Wednesday, Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Hamzah Alias said.
“The four guards went to the ATM at a Petronas petrol station here and were about to refill it with cash when four men approached them on two motorcycles,” The Star quoted Hamzah as saying.
He said as soon as the suspects arrived, one of them, armed with a pistol, fired a warning shot in the air and disarmed the security guard holding a shotgun.
“One of the guards was hit on the head with the shotgun,” he said.
The suspects then forced the security guards to hand over two bags containing cash and fled the scene on two blue Yamaha 125Z motorcycles.
Hamzah said the suspects tossed the shotgun by the side of the road while fleeing from the station.
He said the injured guard received outpatient treatment at the Ampang Hospital.
He added that the identity of the suspects could not be ascertained as they were wearing gloves and helmets with tinted visors.
Hamzah the case was being investigated as voluntarily causing hurt in an armed robbery under Section 394 of the Penal Code and Section 3 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act.
