The move by PAS Pahang to field 10 percent non-Muslim candidates to contest for parliamentary seats in the upcoming 14th general elections (GE14) is still at the proposal stage, said PAS deputy mursyidul am (spiritual leader) Ahmad Yakob.
He said normally proposals related to party policy would be decided by the Ulama Syura Council.
"We considered this as just an ordinary proposal and it was up to the state," he told reporters after opening Hududullah Day celebrations at Dataran Ilmu in Kota Bharu today.
Asked whether Kelantan had raised the same proposal, Ahmad who is also Kelantan Menteri Besar, said this rests with the respective states.
On Dec 23, Pahang PAS reportedly said 10 percent of PAS’ candidates would be made up of non-Muslims candidates.
Pahang PAS commissioner Rosli Abdul Jabar said these candidates would be selected from among the PAS Supporters’ Club.
