The High Court in Kuala Lumpur today set aside a warrant of arrest against Batu MP Chua Tian Chang which was issued yesterday.
Justice Sofian Abdul Razak agreed to set it aside following an explanation by Tian Chua's lawyer Eric Paulsen.
Paulsen told the court that Tian Chua did not know his presence was required yesterday.
The PKR vice-president was present today.
"Prior to this, the case management of the matter was done before the deputy registrar where his presence was not required," the lawyer told Malaysiakini.
After Paulsen's explanation, Justice Sofian agreed to set aside the warrant of arrest.
Yesterday, it was reported that the court issued the warrant as Tian Chua was not present when the case was fixed for mention before the judge for the first time.
