Azmin not concerned about brother’s attacks

Despite his younger sibling’s public threats to work with Umno to bring about his downfall, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali remains nonchalant, vowing to not get sidetracked from pursuing his Reformasi agenda.

When asked if he was concerned about the recent actions of his brother, TV personality Mohamed Azwan Ali, Azmin replied in the negative.

“I have been here (in PKR) for almost two decades and in the coalition of opposition parties to bring about the Reformasi agenda. That is my commitment and conviction from day one.

“What’s important is I want to talk about the people’s agenda and about Reformasi.

“We are not here to discuss family matters,” he told reporters after a Jelajah Inisiatif Peduli Rakyat event at the Jamiul Hasaniah mosque in Klang tonight.

In a video which later went viral, Azwan said he wanted to meet with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his men to discuss ways to “destroy” his brother.

Earlier today, Azwan made an appearance with Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos at the Umno general assembly in Kuala Lumpur, and threatened to expose secrets about Azmin.

When asked whether he thought his brother’s actions would successfully derail his political career, Azmin said he believed the rakyat would make their decisions based on his track record as Selangor menteri besar.

“I believe in the wisdom of the rakyat. I’m here to work hard to save the Malaysian economy, to support the rakyat.

“And I have been doing that for many years. Especially when I was given the mandate in Selangor (in 2014).

“You (can) see for yourself the results, the achievements in Selangor,” said Azmin.

Azmin added that he did not know why his brother had decided to attack him, but said he would pray to God to soften Azwan’s heart towards his family members.

“I pray that our family will be given the hidayah (guidance) from God to open his heart, so that he would be loving towards his family members.

“I will pray hard for him, God willing Allah will save him. He has a good heart for the family,” he said.- Mkini
