FIRST, IT WAS SLEEPING BEAUTY PAK LAH, NOW IT’S KING OF KLEPTOCRATS NAJIB – HOW TO TAKE A BREAK?: MAHATHIR RUES NOT BEING ABLE TO RETIRE IN PEACE & ‘GO ON A CRUISE’ LIKE NORMAL FOLKS

DR Mahathir Mohamad said he should be resting instead of being told to become prime minister again, having already served Malaysia for 22 years.
The 92-year-old Pakatan Harapan and Bersatu chairman said he never got the chance to take a break after leaving office as the country’s administration was left disorganised by his successor, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, and now, Najib Razak.
“First of all, Pak Lah (Abdullah) started to interrupt (the administration). Then, it’s Najib.
“I don’t even have time to take a break. I was supposed to rest and go on a cruise after retiring,” he told reporters after attending a forum in Kuala Lumpur last night.
Abdullah won the 2003 general election with a big majority after taking over from Dr Mahathir.
However, his performance deteriorated, leading to Barisan Nasional losing its two-thirds majority in Parliament and five states.
It was seen that Dr Mahathir’s criticism of Abdullah’s administration partially contributed to BN’s loss.
Dr Mahathir has now targeted Najib, especially on issues involving the management of 1Malaysia Development Berhad.
He jokingly said the PH coalition was “very pleased” with him in his role as chairman that it wanted him to become prime minister again.
“This PH, first asking me to become chairman, now to become prime minister.”
He was responding to a proposal that he become interim prime minister if the opposition bloc wins the 14th general election.
The proposal was made at a PH retreat in Putrajaya last week.
According to sources, PH members Bersatu, DAP and Amanah have agreed that Dr Mahathir would be named as prime minister, but PKR is still unable to come to a decision.
PKR said the proposal had not been officially adopted by the PH Supreme Council.
