Leave MACC alone, Noh tells Azmin over nephew's arrest

Selangor Umno liaison chairperson Noh Omar today urged Menteri Besar Azmin Ali to leave MACC alone in the probe over the alleged involvement of the latter's nephew in the illegal mining of sand and gravel in the state.
"Don't disturb (the enforcement authorities). The MACC and police are colour blind when it comes to politics," he told a press conference today at Putrajaya.
Azmin’s 34-year-old nephew was arrested together with three other suspects and remanded for seven days until Dec 6.
However, Azmin's office and Azmin himself had decried that it was a conspiracy against the state government ahead of the coming general election.
He explained that all tenders for sand mining in the state are handled by Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd (KSSB), which is a fully owned subsidiary of Menteri Besar Inc.
MACC chief Dzulkifli Ahmad had denied that the arrest of the Azmin’s nephew was politically motivated.
Noh, who is also the Selangor BN chief, said he had expected Azmin's reaction.
"I was not surprised he had said something like that. But the fact is, he loves to politicise the issue, the duties of the MACC and police.
"For him, (it's fine) as long as we leave him alone. If it was Umno and BN leaders being detained, then it was correct and no political (interference). If any of the PKR people were arrested, then it is political," he added.
Noh said Azmin wanted to change the perception of the people to show that they are transparent, clean, without sin and free of corruption.
"I can see that the Selangor menteri besar has lost his direction in running the state," he added. -Mkini
