Anwar: Are we not allowed to help PD folks?

PD POLLS | Unfazed by claims of alleged vote buying, Pakatan Harapan candidate Anwar Ibrahim today questioned if it was wrong for him to "assist" the people of Port Dickson.
"That (PD tuition) project, are we not allowed to help the people in Port Dickson?" said Anwar to reporters while on his campaign trail with petty traders in Port Dickson this afternoon.
The PKR president-elect said this in response to a police report lodged against him by his rival, Independent candidate Stevie Chan Keng Leong.
"These (projects) are by NGOs. Nothing to do with the government.
"He (Chan) can do whatever he wants (but) he should explain what he wants to do for PD," said Anwar.
In his report lodged earlier today at Port Dickson district police station, Chan also alleged that Anwar had during a mega ceramah on Sept 30 announced there would be three projects carried out for the people of Port Dickson.
Port Dickson district officer Khairy Maamor yesterday said that in line with Anwar's aspiration to bring in more investments, a new tourism development plan was being formulated to boost the area's potential as a tourism destination.
Among others, Khairy said the plan included a luxury hotel project where the developer will be asked to also maintain the beaches at the hotel and the surrounding area.
Aside from Anwar and Chan, the PD polls on Oct 13 will see five other contenders vying for the parliamentary seat vacated by PKR's Danyal Balagopal Abdullah.
The five candidates are PAS' Mohd Nadzari Mokhtar and four independents – Anwar’s former political aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, Lau Seck Yan, and Kan Chee Yuen. -Mkini
