PD POLLS | Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Port Dickson by-election Anwar Ibrahim has refuted claims that he had abused the government machinery for campaigning purposes.
He said complaints about his presence at military facilities were invalid because he had been invited by the military itself.
"What do you mean I abuse government assets? They invited me to go to pray, to give a lecture. So I went and lectured.
"I know there are candidates who are speaking at mosques too," Anwar said when met at the sidelines of a campaign stop in Port Dickson.
Electoral watchdog Bersih and two independent candidates had rapped Anwar after he turned up at military medal presentation ceremony on Oct 3 at the Port Dickson army camp.
Bersih said Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu had in his speech at the event subtly urged the those present to back Anwar, giving the latter an unfair advantage.
Aside from this, independent candidate Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan today accused Anwar of abusing mosques by giving political speeches there. - Mkini
