Police have recorded a statement from Lokman Noor Adam over his claim of a fresh sodomy allegation against PKR president-elect Anwar Ibrahim.
The Umno supreme council member told Malaysiakini that he was questioned on the matter at Menara KPJ in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.
“It was not an investigation, they only took my statement based on a police report that was lodged in Port Dickson. One police officer from Port Dickson came (to record the statement).
“I did not answer (the questions), I only said 'I will answer in court',” he added.
Lokman was at Menara KPJ to support former premier Najib Abdul Razak where the latter was questioned by the federal commercial crimes investigation department (CCID).
Contacted later, Port Dickson district police chief Aidi Sham Mohamed confirmed that Lokman's statement was recorded.
On Monday, PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil lodged a police report against Lokman, saying the latter's claim was made with “malicious intent”.
He accused the Umno leader of “attempting to change public perception of Anwar” during the Port Dickson by-election campaign period.
In a Facebook posting, Lokman claimed Mediacorp Singapore had reported that an Indonesian student lodged a police report in Singapore accusing Anwar of sodomising him.
Mediacorp has denied publishing the report and contacted Lokman to remove the post. Mediacorp also pointed out that the republic's police force had denied receiving such a report.
Lokman later deleted the post and clarified that the article was not published by Mediacorp. -Mkini
