KOTA KINABALU: The Election Court has deferred its decision on an election petition filed by two Warisan leaders to nullify the Kimanis parliamentary seat and Kiulu state seat election results.
The Kimanis seat was won by former foreign minister Anifah Aman by just 156 votes, defeating Warisan’s Karim Bujang, while the Kiulu state seat was won by Parti Bersatu Sabah’s Joniston Bangkuai who retained the seat by 1,443 votes defeating Warisan’s Jo-Anna Sue Henley Rampas.
Anifah’s lawyer Tengku Fuah Tengku Ahmad said the court did not give any reason for the postponement.
“The dates have been deferred to Oct 23 for Kimanis and Oct 24 for Kiulu seat,” he said.
Last month, former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman retained his Sungai Sibuga state seat after the Election Court in Sandakan struck out Warisan’s petition to nullify his victory.
High Court judge Azhahari Kamal Ramli also struck out another Warisan petition against Zakaria Edris for the Libaran parliamentary seat. -FMT
