Dr M in PD a good omen, says 'happy' Anwar

PD POLLS | PKR president-elect Anwar Ibrahim is delighted that Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad will campaign for him in the Port Dickson by-election.
Describing it as a “good omen” for Port Dickson, he said the Mahathir's visit would also generate excitement among voters in the parliament constituency.
"I am happy today because Mahathir himself is coming to Port Dickson to campaign. This will create excitement among the people of Port Dickson, God willing.
"This is important because I remember from before, when I was deputy prime minister, he does not go (campaigning) when he was prime minister.
"But he is coming here, and this is a good omen for Port Dickson. Meaning not only am I guaranteeing to help Port Dickson, but the prime minister will be here too," he added.
Earlier today, Mahathir announced that he would be in Port Dickson with other Pakatan Harapan leaders on Oct 8 to campaign for Anwar.
The prime minister said he made this decision in order to dispel speculation of a rift between the two.
The Oct 13 Port Dickson by-election was called after its incumbent, PKR's Danyal Balagopal Abdullah, vacated the seat to allow Anwar to contest in order to return to Parliament.
Anwar, who is Mahathir's designated successor, would be facing six challengers, including his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan and former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Mohd Isa Samad. Both are contesting as independents.
Others in the race are Mohd Nazari Mokhtar of PAS and independents Stevie Chan, Lau Seck Yan and Kan Chee Yuen. - Mkini
