Putrajaya has spent RM6.38 million on eight official overseas trips for Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his delegation since Pakatan Harapan formed the government.
"The expenses were paid accordingly as per the Members of Parliament (Remuneration) Act.
"This expense covers accompanying officers who are present for each of the prime minister's official visits," a written parliamentary reply from the Prime Minister's Department today said.
Since taking office, Mahathir has visited Indonesia, China, Japan, Brunei, US and the UK.
He is scheduled to visit Thailand later this month.
Previously, the BN government refused to disclose how much was spent for former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's US visit in September 2017.
Then-minister in the Prime Minister's Department Azalina Othman Said merely said that the trip was within budget. -Mkini
