An Umno lawmaker has urged the ruling government and members of Parliament to move beyond blaming the previous Umno-BN administration for the current state of affairs.
Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (BN-Pasir Salak) said this when Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali said Felda’s financial problems were inherited from the old BN government.
“I thought during this Parliament session we would not debate matters like this.
“Be ashamed (for doing this) in front of the future prime minister (Anwar Ibrahim) […] we should be better now,” Tajuddin said.
Tajuddin (above) had earlier said Felda’s woes were caused by bad management, a point Azmin concurred with.
“I agree with Pasir Salak that the management was not efficient. Unfortunately (a former Felda boss) was even made a candidate in Port Dickson which was supported by the local Umno division,” Azmin said.
This is believed to be in reference to former Felda chairperson Isa Abdul Samad who contested as an independent in the Port Dickson by-election after Umno boycotted the contest.
Isa was among the seven independent candidates who lost his deposit when Anwar won the by-election with a landslide 23,560-vote majority.
