NAJIB MAKES SHOCK ACCUSATION: GUAN ENG TO BLAME FOR MALAYSIA’S FINANCIAL SITUATION, SAYS DISGRACED EX-PM

PETALING JAYA – Najib Razak today blamed Lim Guan Eng for the country’s current financial situation, saying the finance minister was more interested in politicising the management of Malaysia’s economy.
The former prime minister said this was why Putrajaya should stop labelling the upcoming Budget 2019 as a “sacrificial budget”.
“We are facing this problem because of Lim Guan Eng,” he wrote on Facebook.
Najib, who is also the former finance minister, said the country lost billions in revenue after the government abolished the goods and services tax (GST) and reintroduced the sales and services tax.
He said the revenue lost could have been used to help the B40 group or distributed to the civil servants.
“But the current government is not sensitive to the needs of the ‘rakyat’, including the civil servants.”
The Pekan MP then hit out at the government’s decision to review the additional salary increment for civil servants which his administration had promised prior to the May 9 polls.
Yesterday, the Chief Secretary to the Government Ismail Bakar said a detailed study would be carried out to see if an increment could be given, taking into consideration the country’s current financial position.
Najib said when he announced the increment for civil servants in April, the finance ministry believed that the government could afford to implement it.
He said while the sum was not much, it would have eased the financial burden of the civil servants.
The current narrative, Najib said, was that sacrifices had to be made in view of the country’s current finances. This despite international agencies having acknowledged earlier  the nation’s strong financial standing.
“So what happened after May 9? Our finances have issues because of one man – Lim Guan Eng,” he said.
