No order to arrest, charge Zahid tomorrow: MACC sources

There is no order for the MACC to arrest and charge Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi tomorrow, according to sources close to the investigation.
The sources revealed to Malaysiakini that investigators only want to question Zahid tomorrow at the commission's headquarters in Putrajaya as part of its ongoing investigation.
"We want to question him over several issues pertaining to our investigations.
"There is no order to arrest or charge him for the time being. We only issued an order to call him in to record his statement," a high-ranking MACC official said today.
Asked to confirm whether the questioning would pertain to the alleged misappropriation of funds from a welfare foundation or the bank account of one of Zahid's family members, the source only said: "There are many things, but I can't reveal them for now."
When contacted, MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Azam Baki confirmed that the commission has only called Zahid in for questioning, but declined to elaborate further.
Zahid was summoned to appear at the MACC headquarters for a third round of questioning since since BN was unseated in the May 9 general election.
Other sources had earlier told Malaysiakini that the former deputy prime minister was expected to face charges pertaining to the alleged misappropriation of funds from a welfare foundation.
An MACC source had claimed that Zahid was most likely to be charged on Thursday, and could be held overnight in the MACC premises.
Zahid himself tweeted yesterday that investigators would only be recording his statement, and advised his supporters against holding a solidarity gathering in front of commission's headquarters tomorrow.
Earlier today, a Facebook post from Umno supreme council member Lokman Noor Adam quoted Zahid as saying said that he "accepted" his charitable deed of helping tahfiz students being classified as corruption and money-laundering.
In July, Zahid was questioned by the MACC in relation to Yayasan Akal Budi, a welfare foundation owned by his family members.
It was reported that RM800,000 from the foundation's funds were allegedly used to pay for the credit card bills of the Umno chief and his wife.
Zahid admitted that the funds were used to clear the credit card debt, but claimed that this was due to a mistake by his officer. -Mkini
