Now, Zuraida questions neutrality of polling officers

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin today questioned the neutrality of the polling officers for the party’s election, saying she believed some of them belonged to certain “camps”.
Zuraida, who yesterday challenged Rafizi Ramli’s apparent victory over Mohamed Azmin Ali in Pahang, was referring to the officers who assisted elderly voters in using the tablets in the e-voting system.
“At the moment, the mechanism is not really transparent yet,” she told reporters at the Sunway Putra Mall.
“It seems as if the officers themselves are helping there. Some of them belong to certain camps,” she said, adding that they might “just touch the button that they like”.
“This is something we have observed that needs to be reviewed.”
Adding that senior voters should be accompanied by a family member, she said she would meet the election committee to review the matter.
She also claimed she had seen other irregularities during the election process, which has taken place in six states so far.
Zuraida is contesting a vice-presidency post while Rafizi and Azmin are vying for the deputy presidency.
On his Twitter account yesterday, Rafizi said he was leading against Azmin by a slim margin of 0.2%.
According to Rafizi, he won in eight divisions with 2,383 votes, which is 85 more than the 2,298 votes Azmin garnered. -FMT
