PAS unhappy RM2.5m 'Umno donation' being played up

PD POLLS | PAS today expressed dissatisfaction over attempts by several Pakatan Harapan leaders to reignite the issue of alleged donations linked to Umno channelled for the party.
Furthermore, it was noted that the allegations resurfaced several days before polling for the by-election to be held tomorrow, with PAS candidate Mohd Nazari Mokhtar going up against Harapan candidate, PKR president-elect Anwar Ibrahim, and five other Independents.
PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad (above), however, said Harapan could investigate the claims as it now has the power as the current federal government.
"Two three days before polling, the issue of RM2.5 million donations for PAS was raised," said Idris during a press conference at the party's by-election operations centre this morning.
"But we (PAS) would like to tell you (Harapan), you now have the power.
"The attorney-general is under you, the police is under you, Bank Negara governor is under you, the MACC is under you... you have all the powers, so you can investigate," he said.
About a month prior to the 14th general election, PAS central committee member Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki had denied allegations that the RM2.5 million sum was donated by Umno.
Instead, he claimed that the money was donated by an unidentified individual in two deposits of RM1.5 million and RM1 million respectively.
At the time, it was reported that the allegation was made by Deputy Human Resource Minster Mahfuz Omar, as quoted by Malaysia Dateline, the organ for Amanah. -Mkini
